If you're reading this, odds are that you and I have one cardinal thing in common: we love exploring.
Artists want to see more, see farther or see deeper, or hear/feel/taste more/farther/deeper. For me it has meant a life of constant exploration and travel.
Looking back on 2012 I have to admit (sheepishly) that I've come a long way. It's easy to get caught up in your own life and focus so much on the daily tasks that the greater overall journey becomes less prominent. But now I'm reviewing 2012 and I realise that I've achieved many milestones. I've been published multiple times.... on book covers, in magazines, newspapers and online. My photography business has grown steadily. I've travelled widely across the country in the past year as well - physical exploration brings me a level of contentment that is hard to express in words. I've also travelled to two other countries, in the one instance courtesy of a multinational corporate client.
One thing I am very clear about is that none of it would have been possible without the support of certain people. My spouse, my friends, my family, my collaborators and my clients have supported me in my explorations and endeavours. At times I'm sure they must question the wisdom of accompanying me on my silly adventures!
So here's to 2012.
In the coming months I will re-evaluate my business plan and make some adjustments. There are several new avenues of creativity that I want to explore. On top of that I have a mountain of personal projects that need attention. There is also a joint exhibition with
in the near future, featuring select pieces from our landscape-nude project.
So... much seen and achieved, but much more to see and achieve ahead.
